Answer to Proposal

〔英作文のポイント : Thank you for your e-mail in which you...〕

業務提携に限らず、利害関係が絡むことは、"Thank you for your e-mail in which you suggested a mutual working business relationship between our two companies."のように、何に付いて述べようとしているのか明確にしなければなりません。相手が分かっていることだから、書く必要がないというのは、日本人的発想です。

本文

Thank you for your e-mail in which you suggested a mutual working business relationship between our two companies. Your idea has some merit, particularly because our two businesses tend to complement, rather than directly compete with each other. I had not previously considered the benefits of our openly sharing our customer bases. It is in that area that I think we could both obtain mutual benefit rather quickly. Other aspects you have suggested will require fairly extensive working out of many details. Toward this end, and to establish a working relationship, I suggest that you and I should meet face-to-face, perhaps for a whole day or longer, to discuss the matter in detail. If you are interested in meeting, please let me know when you can be available and I will try to arrange my schedule to accommodate you.
